Abstract
In this paper we have focused on basics of Data and Big Data, characteristics and yet challenges of Big data. Big data can store massive amount of data, we have described approaches and the architecture that are used to store data. Nowadays Big Data is used in various subject area like pattern recognition, medical, commercial industries and social networking.
