Abstract

Tumour is the abnormal growth of cells in any part of the human body. There are different types of tumour with different properties and treatments. Brain tumour is the abnormal growth of cells in the human brain and it is most dangerous to mankind. There are different stages in brain tumour like benign, pre-malignant, malignant. Detecting the tumour in early stages makes the treatment easier. The main emphasis of this paper is to develop an application system which detects the tumour in human brain through MRI and CT images employing image processing algorithms. Detecting the brain tumour has some steps like pre-processing, segmentation, morphological operations for extracting tumour area which is discussed in this paper in detail.
