Abstract

This paper gives a summary of the current research in optical character recognition (OCR) systems. Many works have been reported on OCR for various Indian scripts, like Devanagari, Bangla, Malayalam, Kannada, Gurmukhi, Gujarati, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu etc. This studies will help in developing of OCRs for Indian scripts and it is still in developing status. We briefly reported some of the published papers in this area and have also analyzed the various techniques and their reported results. The primary aim of this paper is to give a brief idea about various methodologies to the researchers who are entering into this field.
